LENINGRAD were Russia's most notorious rock band, their bandleader and singer Sergej "Shnur" Shnurov the country's enfant terrible no. 1. Their weird mixture of polka, ska, punk and traditional popular tunes and lyrics won them a huge and loyal following around the world - until Shnur dissolved the band some months ago. So, the first film about Russia's underground superstar will also be the last, packed with rollicking live footage and featuring the band members, its fans and opponents. We witness all but unanimous opinions on music, friendship, money, politics, language and business. Loaded with irony, vodka and curses, Shnur's words and views on the world provoke just as much as they make everybody laugh. A throbbing party-film with a deep background!
