ISTANBUL 360° - EINE BRÜCKE IN ISTANBUL

In 2010 Istanbul is Europe's "Capital of Cultrure". ARTE will dedicate one week in  September/October to this event. On arte.tv we will start in April with a cross-media project which includes a web documentary and video weblog curated by media-artist Florian Thalhofer (Korsakow). The "Galata Bridge" in Istanbul is in the focus of all parts of this project. The bridge is crossing the "Golden Horn"; a bay on the european side of Istanbul. Even the bridge connects Europe with Europe it in fact connects two worlds. On the traditional side there is the old islamistic character of the "Ottoman Empire" with its mosques and palaces. On the other side there is the european influence and the imprint ot the "Fin de Siècle".
