Congratulations to Henk Drees, the Cutter of RICH BROTHER, for the German Camera Award 2010 in the category "Best Montage". The Jury says: "The documentary shows in a wonderful way the contrast between the expectations of the african family to the experiences of their son who was send by them to Germany. In a clever parallel montage this various levels are worked out and interwoven. The result is a very emotional and sensitive film. Despite the difficult camera and sound conditions and without any off-commentary the cutter creates a story which fascinates us viewers about 99 minutes." ALIAS will be awarded with the Starter-Filmpreis 2010. Congratulations to the director Jens Junker. The award ceremony will take place at September 15, 2010 at ARRI in Munich.
This is what the jury says:
In ALIAS Jens Junker is telling on an unpretentious and modest way a German family history of adultery, taboos, strict belief, domestic violence, displacement and the resulting conflicts. ALIAS testifies the courage of a young director to recognize the social relevance of this personal story and to give her a cinematic narrative.
